Enhancing the Museum Visit

Milestone Six - Hi-Fi Prototype

March 28, 2007

Methodology:

To complete the hi-fi prototype we used our lo-fi prototype as a tool for soliciting ideas from our stakeholders. We conducted design sessions, cognitive walk throughs, a survey, field observation and interviews.

Our main goals for this milestone were:

  • Get user feedback on paper prototype
  • Capture stakeholder ideas on UI and features
  • Incorporate findings into the hi-fi prototype

Primary Stakeholders:

Students: We engaged 11 children in design sessions. Using pens, paper, and post-its, the children drew what they wanted on the screen and what the mini-computer would do. [designs | in use]

Teachers: Ten local science teachers took a survey and provided design ideas in sketch form and feature suggestions. [ Feedback from Teachers ]

Museum Staff: We conducted a cognitive walk through with four members of the museum staff to catch flaws in our design. We followed this up with interviews to solicit more feedback. [ Feedback from Staff ]

Results:

The hi-fi prototype was produced with a combination of flash and html.

[Leonardo Da Vinci] combined art and science and aesthetics and engineering, that kind of unity is needed once again.
